SEO for MySpace
A way to be present on SERPs, search engine result pages, is to blogging and writing some useful articles, to generate traffic and interest. There are many instruments for aim this goal, and now i want to introduce you all my personal experience tuning my MySpace profile to get the better ranking in the search engines for keywords of interest. I'm a web developer, a young SEO and a jazz guitarist.
So that i created a MySpace profile about my passion for music and guitar. At the beggining i put some descriptions about myself and my interests, nothing more, and added some well known friends only. After i understood the importance of the communities, after finding my friends profile on SERPs. So i decided to put some keywords: i analyzied the strategical points of my profile.
I saw that for my relevant keys i got great results, above all in term of presence in SERPs, and second in term of visits and add-requests. The steps i followed are: 1) put my keywords in my display name (these keys will appear in title and description meta-tags of your myspace profile!) 2) put my keywords in my description, feeding them with other description fields to build an unique text where a just abuse a bit of keywords stuffing 3) Put keywords in interest, music, heroes ... fields 4) blogging with MySpace blog: MySpace is a well known platform and for this reason Search engines like Google take them into great consideration, indexing contents very fastly 5) using calendar properly and invite people to your events 6) put a simple layout, a bit of colors a no flash if possible (nowadays i have grey myspace and banned users who put huge banners on my profile - they are awful and make my profile like a dirty wall and slow to load for visitors)
With these simple suggestion i think you can get good results for your MySpace profile, as better as i got.
If you want to check my results you should use google.it with language = it.
My keywords are "Chitarra Jazz" "Jazz Cosenza" "chitarra Cosenza" and oblivious my name.
For these keywords i appear in the first page on 400.000 (approx) result pages. Giving a fast looking of my suggestions i can say, at the end:
-you can get better ranking with your myspace but remember that myspace is a platform friendly oriented, so i think you can promote something closer to your passions nor something about business
-you have to get visitors and to do so you should join some communities and searching for friends
-avoid spammy friends the slow down you space and make it dirty (banners, images, flockering stuff)
-be quiet and friendly with users who join you or you want to join: this could make you waste a bit of time |
